Lymphatic Massage After a Tummy Tuck in Myrtle Beach, SC
Gentle drainage to help you feel less swollen and more like yourself.
After a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), swelling across the belly and above the incision is a normal part of healing, and it can linger for weeks. Post-op lymphatic massage uses light, slow, directional strokes to guide that fluid toward healthy lymph nodes, without pressing on your incision or healing tissue. Mel is trained and certified in several manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) techniques, and every session follows your surgeon’s instructions.
How lymphatic massage fits into your recovery
Surgery disrupts the lymph pathways in your lower belly, so fluid tends to collect there. We start by opening the pathways that are working well, then gently guide fluid from your abdomen toward them.
You’ll stay comfortable the whole time. Most tummy tuck clients can’t lie flat yet, so you’ll usually be reclined with your knees supported, the same way you rest at home.
What we pay special attention to
We work around the incision, never on it
Pressure stays light, and we keep clear of anything that is still healing.
Positioned for comfort
Reclined with your knees supported, so there’s no stretching across your belly.
Drains and garments are no problem
We work carefully around drains and help you get your garment back on afterward.
An at-home plan
Simple self-drainage, positioning and hydration tips to keep things moving between visits.
When to start, and how many sessions
When to start is your surgeon’s call. Many clients begin once they’re cleared, often in the first week or two, and book a series that’s more frequent early on and tapers as the swelling goes down. Bring your surgeon’s instructions and we’ll build your plan around them.
What clients say
“If you’re looking for someone for post-operative lymphatic drainage or simply want exceptional care, I highly recommend her. Your recovery will be in excellent hands!”
Frequently asked questions
Can I come in if I still have drains?
Often, yes, as long as your surgeon approves. We work carefully around drains. Just mention them when you book.
Do I wear my compression garment?
Yes, wear it to your appointment. It comes off for the session and goes right back on afterward, following your surgeon’s guidance.
Will it hurt?
It shouldn’t. The pressure is very light by design. If anything feels sore, tell us and we’ll adjust right away.
I had a mommy makeover. Can you help?
Yes. Tell us everything that was done so we can plan your sessions around each area.
When to call your surgeon instead
Lymphatic massage supports your recovery, but it isn’t medical care. Contact your surgeon before your next session if you notice a fever, redness or warmth that is spreading, an incision that opens or drains in a way that worries you, or pain that is getting worse instead of better. If you have sudden swelling or pain in one leg, chest pain or trouble breathing, call 911.
